Childcare and kindergarten in Centenary Heights, QLD

Creative Garden Centenary Heights offers long day care and kindergarten for children aged 6 weeks to 6 years, conveniently located for families in Centenary Heights, Rangeville, Redwood, Toowoomba, Darling Heights and Prince Henry Heights.

Small centre with a community feel

With only 54 children attending each day, the centre has a close, familiar feel. Children get to know educators across the service, and families can build relationships with a team that knows their child well.

Outdoor spaces and lush gardens

Children have room to move, explore and spend time outdoors in open play areas and established gardens. The spaces give children opportunities for active play, nature exploration and hands-on experiences throughout the day.

Long-standing and experienced team

Most of our educators hold, or are working towards, Diploma or Bachelor qualifications. The team speaks Welsh, Arabic, Vietnamese, Bengali, Tagalog, Hindi and English, bringing different languages and cultural perspectives into the centre.

Individual learning shaped with families

Educators use family input, observations and children’s interests to plan individual learning. Goals are reviewed as children develop new skills and interests, giving families an ongoing role in their child’s learning.

Kindergarten with local school connections

Our Government-approved Kindergarten program builds independence, communication, early literacy and numeracy, and confidence before Prep. The centre has connections with St Thomas More’s, Rangeville State School and Gabbinbar State School.

Bush Kindy, Auslan, music incursions

Children take part in Bush Kindy, Auslan, Maggie Moo music and Mini Monstars. These regular experiences give children time in nature, introduce another way to communicate, and bring music and active play into the week.

Healthy meals provided daily

Our qualified in-house chef prepares breakfast, morning tea, lunch, afternoon tea and a late snack each day. Dietary requirements are catered for, with fresh meals prepared onsite for children across the centre.

Updates through our family app

Families stay involved through regular conversations with educators, learning updates and centre events, with opportunities to contribute their own skills and experiences. Casual bookings are also available where places allow.

"I believe in creating opportunities for children to learn through curiosity, connection and a growing respect for the world around them."

My name is Hayley, and I am the Centre Manager at Creative Garden Centenary Heights. My journey in education began as a trainee educator as inclusion support in Brisbane. After relocating to the Toowoomba region with my family, I embraced the opportunity to advance my career, starting as a lead educator and then moving into management roles.

I have a special interest in weaving Aboriginal perspectives into everyday learning in meaningful and respectful ways. I love encouraging children to explore the natural world and develop a sense of wonder and appreciation for our native plants and animals. I believe in creating opportunities for children to learn through curiosity, connection and a growing respect for the world around them.

I look forward to meeting each of you and working together to create a positive and enriching environment for our community.

Our innovative early learning programs

At our early learning centre in Centenary Heights, our play-based curriculum is guided by the Early Years Learning Framework (EYLF), supporting children to learn through play, exploration and discovery.

Sustainability

Our sustainability program includes compost bins, recycling initiatives, and worm farms to teach children about environmental responsibility. Our vibrant gardens benefit from these efforts, allowing children to see the full cycle of growth and waste reduction in action.

Body safety program

Our Emmy & Friends program helps children understand personal safety, consent, boundaries and trusted adults in age-appropriate ways. Educators use simple language and everyday moments to help children feel safe and confident.

STEM

We encourage your child to ask questions, experiment, and problem-solve, all while engaging their natural curiosity. By fostering this inquisitive mindset, we help them develop critical thinking skills and a deeper understanding of the world around them.

Storytelling and cultural learning

Group times include different forms of storytelling, songs and conversations. Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander songs and perspectives are included in the program, alongside the different languages and cultures represented within the centre.

Ever since starting here, my boys seem much more in tune with their emotions, excited to go to “school” each day, and noticeably calmer and happier when they come home! 🏡 The educators are so attentive to my boys and genuinely take the time to understand what they need. They always communicate with me about their day, whether it’s something wonderful or something they’ve struggled with, which I really appreciate ☺️ There is also such a lovely, warm and family-friendly feeling every time we walk through the doors. It’s so reassuring to know my boys are happy, cared for and understood. We’re very grateful to have found such a wonderful centre! ❤️

See more ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ Creative Gardens has been absolutely wonderful! They truly nurture each child and help them grow, focusing on every child as an individual and tailoring their learning to support them where needed. The educators are amazing — I’m so glad I chose this centre for my child. There’s always a great variety of fun and stimulating activities that help the children develop essential skills. My son absolutely loves his daycare — he’s comfortable, happy, and confident. He gets excited every morning for drop-off, and Miss Bec, Miss Rebecca, and Miss Melissa make that goodbye moment stress-free. He often doesn’t want to leave in the afternoon, especially when Ollie is on — he loves playing with him! The whole team has been a wealth of knowledge, helping us navigate different stages of growth. Hayley has been amazing — always happy to make time to discuss any questions, and her experience is truly invaluable for a first-time mum. All the educators are friendly, supportive, and caring. I also love that my son gets to spend time with different educators and age groups throughout the day — it’s such a great way for him to build social confidence and learn how to interact with children of different ages. I couldn’t recommend Creative Gardens more highly!

Frequently asked questions

A centre tour is a convenient way to experience the childcare centre of your choice and meet with our qualified educators at a time that is suitable for your family’s schedule. Click here to book a tour online.

On the day of the tour, you can observe practices and interactions within the centre environment. You’ll be able to see all the rooms and playgrounds, ask the team members any questions you have in mind, and get all the information you need to make the best decision for your child.

Enrolling is simple, and our Family Support Team will guide you through each step.

First, find your local centre and book a tour so you can meet the team and explore the learning environment. If the centre is the right fit and a place is available, you’ll receive an enrolment offer for your child. If a place is not currently available in your child’s age group, we can add your child to the waitlist and keep you updated.

To finalise your enrolment, you’ll complete an online enrolment form through a secure link sent by our Family Support Team. You’ll also need to provide key details and documents, including your child’s birth certificate, Medicare details, immunisation history statement and, if eligible, your Child Care Subsidy details.

Before your child’s first day, you may be invited to attend a Stay and Play session. This gives your child time to explore the centre, meet their educators, and start feeling comfortable in their new environment. Once your paperwork is complete, your child is ready to start their early learning journey with us.

Read our step-by-step guide on how to enrol here.

Starting child care is a big milestone, and a little preparation can help your child feel more comfortable and confident.

Before your child’s first day, you can talk positively about their new centre, explain what their day might look like, and practise small routines such as packing their bag, saying goodbye, washing hands and sitting down for meals. You may also like to visit the centre with your child, meet their educators and ask our team about what to bring on the first day.

When your child starts, our educators will take the time to get to know your child’s routine, interests, comfort items and individual needs. Settling in looks different for every child, so we work closely with families to help children feel safe, supported and ready to learn.

Learn more about our Settling-in Program.

Most of our child care and early education centres offer nappies and wipes, sunscreen and hats, as well as nutritious meals prepared by our in-house cook. Some centres also provide sheets and formula, so you may not need to remember to pack them.

For nursery children, be sure to bring: nappy rash cream, dummies, bottles and teats, comfort toys or blankets, three spare outfits, spare socks and a plastic bag for wet clothes.

For toddlers and preschool or kindergarten-aged children, it’s best to bring: spare underwear, water bottle or sippy cup, sun hat, closed-toe shoes, two spare outfits, spare socks and a plastic bag for wet clothes.

Plus, anything else your individual child may need, such as breast milk, a sleeping bag, a comforter or medication.

It’s best to speak to your centre of choice for a full list of everything included.

Creative Garden uses Xplor Home as our family communication app. It is the best and easiest way to keep track of your child’s day.

After you enrol your child with the centre, you can utilise Xplor Home to book child care days, manage your account, receive the photographs that capture your child’s learning, learn about your child’s progress, as well as keep up-to-date with upcoming centre events and important information.

If your child shows signs of an infectious illness when they arrive at the centre or becomes sick during the day, you may be notified that you need to make alternative arrangements or pick up your child from the centre and keep them home until they are no longer infectious. While we understand that this can be inconvenient, Creative Garden is committed to maintaining a healthy environment and reducing the risk of infection for all children.

Under the Child Care Subsidy (CCS), families are allowed 42 absence days per child, per financial year. These can be taken for any reason, including public holidays and when children are sick, without requiring families to provide documentation.
